Dr. Jennifer Mushtaler, MD
Dr. Jennifer Mushtaler (affectionately known as OB JEN) founded Capital Ob/Gyn Associates of Texas in October 2010. As a Houston native, her love of science and pursuit of knowledge was fueled at an early age growing up across from the Johnson Space Center. She graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s of Science Honors in Electrical Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin. While obtaining her degree, she coop’ed right here with IBM Austin.
Following her undergraduate education, Dr. Mushtaler attended medical school at UT Southwestern Parkland Memorial Hospital. She knew that her true calling was women’s health care the first time she saw the miracle of birth; This drew such a “Wow!” from Dr. Mushtaler that her attendings told her that she was destined to be an obstetrician/gynecologist. Dr. Mushtaler completed her residency in Fort Worth, Texas at John Peter Smith hospital. While there she was privileged to learn minimally invasive surgery from some of the nation’s leading experts and presented research to the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists.
Following her residency, Dr. Mushtaler and her husband found their way to the magnificent Pacific Northwest where she first entered private practice. Two children and five rainy winters later, the family returned to inspiring Austin, Texas. Dr. Mushtaler and her husband both enjoy the active athletic community here, participating in triathlon and running events as a family.
Dr. Mushtaler’s patients find her to be warm and caring, but easy with a laugh and a friendly smile. They say her bedside manner makes them feel comfortable and reassured throughout their care. Dr. Mushtaler personally welcomes you to Capital Ob/Gyn Associates and looks forward to caring for you.
